Town Planner Postion

The Town of Orono is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Town Planner. This is a highly responsible professional position directing Planning functionsofthe Town and other work as needed to deliver expected departmental services to stakeholders. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required with the ability to work effectively with both private and public sectors.The ideal applicant is motivated, thrives in a collaborative environment, and has strong strategic thinking, communication, writing, and organizational skills.

Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of the Office of CommunityDevelopment; and in accordance with prevailing policies, laws, regulations and rules applicable to specific areas of planning and zoning. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy or related field of study. A Master’s degree is preferred.Any combination of education and experience in municipal and regional planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, public administration, geography, planning law, or related field, and considerable experience in planning or related field will be considered.Possession of AICP certification, or ability to pursue such certification,is desired.

The Town of Orono offers a very competitive Salary and Benefit Package.Though this is advertised as a full-time position, the Town of Orono would consider a part-time or contract position, if preferred by the right candidate with extensive experience.
