Scheduling / Selling of Lots / Perpetual Care / Maintaining Database
The Town Clerk’s office issues cemetery conveyances to new owners as soon as possible after the sale and confirmation that the space is available for purchase. Only current Orono residents are allowed to purchase lots in the Riverside Cemetery. With each lot that is purchased there is a perpetual care fee for the continued maintenance of the lot by the Town. Copies of the conveyances are filed in the vault and the owner’s name is recorded on the cemetery maps. All plots sold are recorded by the following fields: Map/Range/Lot #. Any person(s) buried are also recorded on the card.
Perpetual Care Fees / Lot Placement
The Town currently sells three (3) and six (6) place lots at the cemetery and only human remains may be placed within the cemetery grounds. The Urn garden will accept cremations. The resident will consult with the cemetery sexton to see what lots are available for purchase. Once a location is agreed upon, the cemetery sexton completes a cemetery lot request form and sends the resident to the Town Office to complete the transaction.
